Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
