Edwards and O'Neil Included in Wolverhampton Wanderers Managerial Contenders

Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early candidates in the frame to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was sacked on the weekend following the team's 10-match winless beginning to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous links to the team - are part of the options to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town manager - who played over a century of games for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a leading contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they begin the process of hiring a fresh manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a surprising appointment considering he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham player is out of work meaning the club would not need to provide any compensation.
